I wanted to let you all know that the district is in discussion with Summit Academy. This program services students on the spectrum and currently, approximately 50% of their student body is made up of WRSD students. The district is exploring leasing space at TPS for this program to exist as a "school within our school." I have identified three potential spaces, all in the 100 wing, that could be used. I am excited about this opportunity as it will give our students the opportunity to practice empathy and understanding while adding neurodiversity to our community. Additionally, there may be some opportunity for TPS to access some of the support Summit Academy brings with them. Many logistics still need to be discussed and I'm sure you all have questions that there may not be answers for yet. However, these discussions will go public shortly and I wanted you all to hear it from me first. Feel free to write any questions here and I will put together a FAQ with as many answers as I have.
I know I made the rare mid-week email but I wanted to acknowledge it here as well. Welcome MaryAnn to the TPS family!
This came across my email and I thought it was worth sharing. Especially because the speaker is one of our own WRSD teachers:

PBIS Assembly
On Friday 4/12 from 8:45-9:30 in the gym, we'd like to hold our first school-wide PBIS assembly... The Floor is Lava! All students will have the opportunity to participate! Here's how it will work. Interested students will pay 10 Tommy Tickets to enter their name into the participation drawing. Students can buy as many chances as they would like. On Monday, in your mailbox, you will find a baggie of raffle tickets. Use these to put first and last names and grade level. There will be a bucket in the foyer of my office where you can leave the entries. The number of students drawn will be determined by however many adults volunteer to compete (that's you, TPS Staff members)! The drawing will take place on 4/10.
Staff, if you are willing to compete in the challenge, please email me!
If you have any fun objects to allow us to borrow to climb on or over, let me know!
Here is a clip from the show Floor is Lava that you can share with your class. Obviously, there will not be real lava, but a red/orange floor. The objects may be mats and climbing blocks, but other creative items too. It will be our own unique TPS Floor is Lava Challenge!
Get psyched. Get pumped. Get those chances sold. Sign up to join the fun!
