4/26

By this point I am sure most of you have heard that Meg Foley will be leaving us to take on the role of 2nd grade classroom teacher at Mayo. She'll be with us through this next week and I'm working to finalize a LTS for the remainder of the year. I just have to dot some i's and cross some t's before I can make this official.

I suspect everyone has noticed the security upgrades from over the April break. I honestly, didn't want to get people's hopes up and so didn't mention it as a possibility. They worked quickly though and throughout this week most of the bugs have been worked out. Next week, please come by and get your key fob from Tracy. This will grant you access to the building on weekdays from 7:00am-9:00pm. It will not let you deactivate the alarm at any point though so please do not try and gain entry on days the building is not open and the alarm is not already off. These fobs are tied to specific personnel so it is important that you only use your own. Fobs can be used at the bus entrance, main lobby door, and recess door. At the end of next week or once all the fobs are picked up we will discontinue having keys for recess monitors to sign in/out. I'm tremendously grateful to the town for the funds to make this happen, Mark Wilde who took bids and worked with the contractor, and Matt who came in last Monday to give the workers a head start. It feels like we are making progress on this front.

MCAS
Just a reminder we are back at it with MCAS this week. We'll run everything the same as ELA.

SCHEDULE
At the last faculty council meeting, there was feedback shared with the suggestion of alternating times for ELA and Math blocks. I have tweaked Ace's schedule to create a M/W/F schedule and a T/Th schedule for grades k-5. This gives the opportunity for kids to have ELA and Math at different times of the day.  This also allows flexibility in special ed pull out scheduling. Please put any feedback or suggestions on this doc.  This is not set in stone, we'd appreciate hearing your feedback.
